Change the future of hundreds of families with your participation
Your help comes right in time to transform lives
Our Mission
The mission of Fundación Tzedaká is to rescue members of the Uruguayan Jewish Community from poverty, by providing basic assistance and promoting and developing social initiatives leading to their reintegration into community life.

A great responsibility
Benefits are provided every month in the areas of food, health, and housing, to cover the basic needs of each family.
Our History
Fundación Tzedaká Uruguay was founded in 2003, as a result of the dramatic socioeconomic crisis in the region, thanks to the support of the Joint Distribution Committee, and 15 institutions of the Uruguayan Jewish Community, including the Kehilot and schools in the network.
It is important to mention Sara Kavana, an Uruguayan living in the United States, for having been a pioneer and the ideologist of this project in the context of the difficult crisis at the time. Sara played a vital role in convening the JDC and gaining support for the creation of this fundamental organization for the Uruguayan Jewish community. Over the years, she has proven to be actively and constantly committed and involved in her work.
The Foundation, in addition to having the endorsement of the Joint Distribution Committee, which initially provided professional and economic support, is the organization chosen by the Claims Conference to manage resources for Holocaust survivors.
It is also audited annually by the prestigious multinational consultancy firm KPMG, ad honorem, to ensure transparency and reliable management.
Throughout all these years, more than 3,000 people have passed through the doors of the Foundation, finding a human, supportive, and immediate response, overcoming difficulties, managing to improve living conditions, and managing to move forward.
